Ellen is a fine artist working primarily in oils. Painting either on location “Plein Air” …or in her studio in Millville, New Jersey. She produces only originals. Each unique painting beginning with a personal vision. Ellen’s style is painterly…realism with emotional brushwork. Either nature’s moods, or human interest, inspiration is everywhere, waiting to be captured.

Though always working in oils, her subject interests are broad. Gavin is becoming nationally recognized as an Equestrian Painter. In 2006 she became a Full Member of American Academy of Equine Art (AAEA). She has garnered several awards in the AAEA Open Juried Exhibits at the International Museum of the Horse, Lexington Kentucky.
Her paintings often include figures, and she enjoys the observation of peoples’ idiosyncrasies.On location, she paints Plein Air landscapes and cityscapes, whenever possible. Finally, her “Small Idea” paintings have allowed success in the realm of miniatures, although still executed in somewhat loose painterly style.
